چکیده

Though ion escape to space is an important mechanism for atmospheric loss at Mars, the processes that accelerate ions velocity have not been fully identified and quantified. The lowest altitude where suprathermal planetary appear source region escape, electromagnetic forces waves begin energize velocity. We conducted a statistical study of distribution functions measured by Mars Atmosphere Volatile EvolutioN SupraThermal And Thermal Ion Composition in order identify tails appear. At all solar zenith angles, just above exobase region, mean free path between collisions exceeds neutral gas scale height. temperature profiles are also presented. investigate effects crustal magnetism, finding fields protect plasma on dayside enhance energization nightside.

Ionosphere of venus: first observations of the dayside ion composition near dawn and dusk.

The first in situ measurements of the composition of the ionosphere of Venus are provided by independent Bennett radio-frequency ion mass spectrometers on the Pioneer Venus bits and orbiter spacecraft, exploring the dawn and duskside regions, respectively. An extensive composition of ion species, rich in oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon chemistry is idenitified. The dominant topside ion is O(+), wi...

First measurements of composition and dynamics of the Martian ionosphere by MAVEN's Neutral Gas and Ion Mass Spectrometer

We report the results of the observations of the ionosphere of Mars by the Neutral Gas and IonMass Spectrometer. These observations were conducted during the first 8months of theMars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN mission (MAVEN). These observations revealed the spatial and temporal structures in the density distributions of 22 ions: H2 , H3 , He, O, C, CH, N, NH, O, OH, H2O , H3O , N2 /CO, ...

Ion Acceleration—Target Normal Sheath Acceleration*

Energetic ions have been observed since the very first laser-plasma experiments. Their origin was found to be the charge separation of electrons heated by the laser, which transfers energy to the ions accelerated in the field. The advent of ultra-intense lasers with pulse lengths in the femtosecond regime resulted in the discovery of very energetic ions with characteristics quite different from...
